How we started?
SMX Computers was formed in 1994 by an accident when our CEO managed to crash his mother’s computer; being a total non techie and fearing the worse he spent days reading and eventually fixing it. Other than getting him out of a lot of trouble, it started a change in the 15 year-old who was usually preoccupied with his work for the United Nations. After having accomplished this major task (yes it was major!) Sachin started a small company in his bedroom with his best friend Muhammad, they started off by fixing PCs (!!) with the first client being their design teacher. From there the company went through many iterations; from building PCs to virtual hosting to Software Development.
By 18, Sachin had done a lot of these iterations, taken the company solo (Muhammad wanted to be a dentist) and started work on SMX’s first portal for a client called tradeagro. As the dot com bubble burst the portal stopped, and through what can only be described as serendipity he met Jonathan (Jon is Mr COO for the software business now-a-days) and together they continued to build SMX further. By 19 Sachin and SMX had got their first big customer; Deutsche Bank AG and the firm started taking shape. As time progressed the software business grew and modified itself to where it is today; a global provider of management systems.
Through the various times & iterations of SMX the key was and still is innovation, whether it is was how SMX made an online configurator to buy a PC, or iWiz – a tool that automated its’ hosting services. This legacy continues through products like nivio, myworld and iManage…
